I have this problem where my screen resolution will automatically change when I begin to watch a program or switch a video to fullscreen. It happens a lot on channel 4 on demand. I use a HDMI LCD TV as my monitor and have an Nvidia 8800 GTS graphics card and the monitor is set to 1768 x 992 as it is the only resolution I can use (all smaller and larger ones do not fit the screen). 1920 x 1080 is the recommended setting despite the fact it cuts off the edges of my screen.
Most games also have the issue of starting up on a resolution too big for the tv forcing me to have to go change it.
