Odd, uncertain issue.

Not quite sure if this is where it should go, but as I do not know the nature of this issue I'm putting it here.

I am at my wits end trying to figure out this issue I am having, so having exhausted my own meager knowledge and stumping my friends / co-workers, I turn to the last bastion of hope: internet forums.

For starters, an image:

This is what happens when I try to load Black Ops 2 on my PC, or World of Warcraft. Currently, they are the only 2 games that seem to have this issue, and both are 'optimized' for Windows 8. RIFT, Mount and Blade, Fallen Enchantress...they all work flawlessly.

I have tried updating / rolling back my graphics drivers. I have tried different DVI / HDMI cables. I have tried all compatibility modes on both games, and nothing I do seems to work.

Other than these, so far 2 isolated issues I have had ZERO problems with Windows 8, and am actually quite enjoying it, but these 2 are going to drive me crazy as I routinely play both with friends. I only have my desktop, which I built, so there's no other options. Does anyone have ANY idea on what could be causing this?

Any help at all is appreciated.

it looks like the games are running in 256 bit color mode, have the compatibility options been enabled for these games? i'd check there first.

I had tinkered with compatibility modes on both games, but neither are running in reduced color mode. They are set to run in 32-bit color via the game preferences and properties.

Very strange, the only thing I can think of is contacting activision and blizzard and asking if they can reproduce the issue on windows 8, they'll usually find a fix for you, this looks like a game issue to me, mainly because its only these two games which you seem to be having a problem with.
