Ok, so I have an HP ENVY dv6z-7200 Notebook PC that came with Windows 8 already installed. I've done A LOT of digging and came to the solution that I need to switch things around in the bios. I need to switch from Dynamic mode to Fixed mode, but there is no option in the new W8 EUFI thing, or whatever it's called... to switch dyamic or fixed. This is VERY frustrating because i'm trying to play games like Minecraft, and I'm getting horrible FPS when I should be getting good FPS. Here are my specs...

HP ENVY dv6 Notebook PC
A8-4500m APU with Radeon HD Graphics (4 CPUs) ~1.9GHz
Windows 8 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200)
AMD Radeon HD 7640G + 7670m Dual Graphics
Chip type says AMD Radeon HD 7640G.... which is the weaker card... I want the 7670m to work over that so I get better performace.
BIOS version: F.13

I'm not sure if i can downgrade my BIOS from Windows 8, since it's a whole different setup. Can anyone help? I'll give more info if requested.

EDIT: I've seen tons of solutions for Intel + AMD graphics, but I have AMD + AMD.

Don't bother trying to change things with your uefi or bios you won't be able to. You have the new muxless design and there isn't a fixed mode for that. I suggest getting the latest amd drivers from AMD not from HP. Once you have them installed just use the Catalyst control center to set which graphics card you want to use for whichever program. For more information on switchable graphics Anandtech has some pretty good articles here:

AnandTech - AMD

How do I know all this? I also have a 7670m switchable only w/ intel integrated graphics on a Acer lappy. It was a super pain for me because of the intel version needing to be signed by amd; but the amd version of intel graphics were lower than the base version intel graphics in Win 8 which turned out to be a nightmare. Long story short, I am now running Amd drivers version 12.11.

Anyway good luck.
