hello, I have a system based on windows 8 64bit and radeon x1200 with correct drivers installed.
My display is an lcd acer x192w 1440x900, I found the drivers here:

Microsoft Update Catalog

The problem is I don't get the correct resolution option and the screen is set at 1280. The next available resolution is 1600 which is not correct. Does anyone know how to solve this?

Are you using a VGA cable? It looks like it's giving you CRT standard resolutions. If your machine has a DVI output (and the monitor an input), I would suggest switching to that.

You could also try adding the resolution manually using the catalyst control center. Also make sure your drivers are functioning properly (run a 3D game or something). Your GPU is quite old, though if it's the desktop version of that GPU then it should have WDDM drivers. Not sure about the mobile versions.

Yes a vga cable. The monitor lacks dvi output. I don't think I have the CCC as the drivers were installed through device manager.

Ah. I never would use graphics drivers from Windows Update. Can you get Windows 8 drivers from AMD's official website and install those? I've known people who let Windows Update update their graphics drivers, and it never ended well. A good reason for that is you don't get all their software, like your catalyst control center (or the nvidia control panel for the nvidia side).

The drivers are from ati website but installed through device manager. The drivers work perfectly with a full hd monitor I have. Windows doesn't like this acer monitor. Besides the monitor was working good under w7

It's possible it doesn't detect the monitor's capable resolutions well enough, which is why I think the catalyst control center would be useful for adding the resolution yourself (i THINK ati has that capability, I know nvidia does).

You aren't the first person to come here saying their resolutions aren't showing up properly. Windows 8 may have some problems communicating with the EDID on some monitors/televisions.

I'm still stuck on this problem. I can't get this monitor to work correctly, Acer support webpage doesn't work so I really don't know what else to do. Maybe find a compatible monitor whose drivers I can use but how?
