When I start my computer the Metro screen appears then I have to go to the desktop to log on.

There must be some way to log on at the Metro screen?

Is there?

Hello Tully,

Do you not see this in the tutorial below when you sign in to Windows 8?

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/5752-signing-windows-8-a.html

You should start on the lock screen, then sign in (log on) screen, and next "Start" screen. Afterwards, you could go to the desktop if you like.

Not worth the effort!! since I go to the desktop for Email & IE!

IF I did I would not have posted this Thread! Obviously!

I thought this forum was to help people?

I would suggest that Brinks tutorial is pretty top class help!
What "effort" are you exactly trying to avoid?

Use several different computers during a day, so specs are irrelevant.

I thought you were wanting help, but it's going to be hard to get it with that attitude and unwillingness to put a little effort into it.

We're not mind readers, and we're not sitting at your computer to see what is happening. I posted that to get a base of reference with you in case you may have miss identified what you meant since how you described logging in from the desktop itself is not how Windows 8 does it.
