Windows 8 RTM Success?

Okay,
So I have been going back and forth about Windows 8 since March when they had the Consumer Preview out. It never really grabbed my attention since it was so buggy and I didn't care since I had Windows 7. But, today I installed the RTM Version from TechNet to give it a crack one last time. Sure enough, I'm hooked on it and I like the way it runs and handles. I'm most likely going to upgrade in October when they release it. Good or bad choice? Give me your opinion. Thanks
-Sean

If you have RTM with a proper license, there will be nothing to which you can upgrade.

Well, technically Technet is to eval. If he continues to use it day-to-day he really should purchase a consumer license.

Anyway, it's a solid OS. If you are happy with the Metro interface and subtle GUI changes...that's what matters.

Yeah I like what you're saying pparks1. I agree that it is solid and that the metro interface doesn't bother me at all like it used to. Being a big Xbox Gamer, I'm used to the Metro interface and everything now. I'm just evaluating it right now by running a vhd that I boot from. My actual OS is Windows 7 with all my rubbish on it, so when the actual Windows 8 releases, i'll be upgrading from that 7 image I have on my computer. My bad for not clarifying that. Thanks for your thoughts

I didn't use win 8 that much during the cp and rp. But the Rtm does seem more finished as it should. What's new for me is I decided to buy splashtop for my iPad to test out the tablet features and really like using win 8 this way. Might end up getting a surface tablet

Good to hear that you are liking it so far too BFG! I do agree also, it's just more finished. You are considered lucky for not trying out the cp and rp. Because it was god awful; some apps wouldn't load, the background was a pale color, and it became really buggy(As most betas are). I wasn't really interested into computers until around Vista, and I didn't really know what Betas were. So this is my first time trying out an OS Beta. So they pulled it off just in time for RTM I think. So good luck getting a surface tablet, im just using it on my Dell Laptop.

Glad you're liking it! :D

If you have a proper license and you like it, go for it! The new Start Screen has its benefits and features as well as the Desktop. It's a pretty decent and flexible system in my opinion. And best of all, it's more efficient power and resource wise than 7, go green!

Yes, i am going for it when it comes out in October, I don't know exactly how. But i want to get that $15 upgrade since i already have windows 7 so i'd just like to do that for once since i've pirated every other windows >:p Really glad also that all you guys are liking the OS along with me, because it seems like everyone on here always has something to be handsome frog about windows 8. It's not too different from 7 and is stable. Can't wait!

The $15 upgrade is only for computers purchased recently. If you are just upgrading a machine that was purchased outside of the recent window, it's a $39 upgrade.

Oh, well thanks for letting me know! i'm still okay with the $39 upgrade. Beats paying a $100-something for a windows 7 upgrade back then.

Since you've pirated every other version of Windows the $39 upgrade doesn't apply to you either.

The Windows 7 upgrade was also cheap when it came out (for 3 or 6 months). Then it went up. Win 8 will also go up. So get it early if you want the cheap deal...

I quite like the way the RTM (Enterprise 64-bit) runs.

It's just a shame it LOOKS so bloody horrible.

I want my Aero back! No ifs, buts or maybes. Just DO IT!

Hi there
I thought I'm the only person on these forums who uses THIS Edition of Windows.(Screen shot enc).

Anybody else using it -- "I want my money back" ..

Cheers
