Should these files be in here? There are a ton of them in folder C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download.
I would of thought like in DP, CP & RP they would be deleted out by Windows?

Most of them are deleted.

Not clear to me why only a few are kept.

For some reason, on my machines not a single one is ever auto deleted. Safe to chuck anything in there always and the entire SoftwareDistribution folder is safe to chuck too, anytime. That deletes the WU history.

The exception to that is when an update needs a reboot to complete. Delete before the reboot and it's asking for troubles.
