Solved buying Win8 pro at upgrade price

hi guys,

have 2 computers with Win7 on in the house. So my question here:

Can I buy an upgrade and install this on another pc, or is this not allowed?

Not sure if I understand the question but here goes. You can't buy one upgrade copy and install/activate it on two PC's. The product code you get will only be good for one PC, you will have to buy a license/product code for each PC you want to install on.

yes Alpha, I meant for each pc a license. But to get the upgrade version (cheaper than the retail version) I was wondering if I could have 2 licenses for upgrade and use (one on my pc but here Win7 was prior) but can I put the other Win8+license on a pc that has Vista on it?

Hell Jeff,

You will not be able to use the special Windows 8 upgrade offer with Vista, but you will be able to use a purchased retail upgrade on Vista though.

thanks, so it seems having Vista or Win7 on your pc, gives you the opportunity to keep everything. Too bad one has to reinstall everything in Win8.

But good to know that the upgrade for some OS will be simple

Don't forget that although need 2 separate Win 8 purchases -- the OLD XP / Win 7 system you have can be used for the upgrade of course. So you only need ONE copy of the qualifying product to install as many upgrades as you like but you need to buy each upgrade license individually.
So 4 computers say -- 4 Win 8 upgrade licenses -- but you can use the SAME Win 7 / XP disk / system to qualify for the upgrade.

HEY!! Here's my question, will we be able to burn the image file we purchase? Or like other versions of Windows burning them won't work?

One would hope the image would make bootable install media. With all the wierd things Microsoft is doing lately, it wouldn't surprise me though, if what you got, had to be run from a preinstalled OS.
