Hi im new here and I am running 32bit version of windows 7 Home Premium. Its on an older computer with 512mb ram and a Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz Processor. Anyway When I run Windows 8 installer from windows 7 it takes me to setup screen like normal. It says windows is copying files. It goes to 100% then when it goes to expand the files it goes to a certain percentage around 10% then reboots. ok thats fine. But then I get an error when it tries to boot back into the windows setup I get error 0x0000005d  and now I have 2 partitions Windows 8 setup and Window 7. Is there an alternative way of getting it to install because I have been installing windows like this when I went from XP to Vista Home Basic and vista to Windows 7 Home Premium.

OK so I tried but same results. but I found the iso for windows 8 consumer preview after a long internet search and download as shown in the tutorial and its installing fine. Release preview doesnt work because I dont have the nx feature Thanks I really wanted to try windows 8 and I guess my computer only likes the consumer preview. I'll see what happen in October when Microsoft releases Windows 8 not professional or enterprise and I'll buy that if it doesn't work I'll give it to my cousin. Thanks for the link.

I looked on amazon and found ram for my computer. Its only 13.00 I may have to buy it even though I hate purchasing stuff online. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000GJWF5I I really did not want to upgrade my hardware much but if I want the Final version of windows 8 im gonna have to. I did a 80GB Hard Drive Upgrade almost 2 years ago so I can use windows 7 with more then 18 GB left Because Dell shipped this with a 40GB hard Drive. Next year I'm gonna just buy a new PC. Thanks looks like I'm not gonna be able to hold on to an old computer and expect the latest OS

Sorry to hear of your dilemma. I don't know what you have for a rig, but if it's older, sometimes it gets to a point where it's just not worth dumping money into it. I'm just skating by on a 6 year old rig I have.

BTW, I went through Crucial to upgrade my Mem. I found they wre trustworthy. All went very well.

Even though you may not upgrade to 8, you can still continue to be a member here. Best of luck!

Thanks man. If the ram stick doesn't solve the issue which is should solve its just a sign I need to upgrade to a new computer. The rig I'm using is a dell optiplex gx260 BTW.

Yeah, as others said you need to upgrade your RAM. Windows 8 RTM won't even install with less than 2GB of it. But I recommend you get at least 4GB.
