Hello Pinakel,

No. It's not illegal to use a 3rd party program to add the Start Menu back. :)

Quite legal. In fact, it's being done by a couple groups already.

Its not illegal.

Although some may want the start button because they think its cool and that people are viewing their screen or something.
So like in their heads its like "I have this start button, i'm awesome at computers. I am so cool".

And the one made by stardock is just a joke, its half the size. Why the hell would you want that?. Its rubbish.
The new way is much faster, easier and fun.

Opinions are fine, but just remember to each their own, and keep them friendly. What works for some may not for others. What one person likes the other may not.

Well I had a negative impression about this one too.
But I'm running it now and it's full size (switched to fullscreen mode).

but may I ask, why do you need a button?.
its easier just to press the windows key anyway.

I agree.

Personally I don't need it. I am also used to the Start Screen. It's just to make it look more like Win7 for all of us using this this pc, just in case someone accustomed with the older versions sees an empty space.
The main reason for using it, is because it gets me to the Desktop in 1 second even when you use a password.

I'll be using it. The start menu has as much and in some cases even MORE functionality that the metro start screen and it doesn't take up your entire 24 in monitor when you need to use it which is pretty jarring.

Functional, compact, no ad spam.

I'm on my computer to get things done, not to have metro apps or the start screen take over the entire desktop for no reason.

To the OP: I should mention as a caution that though it is legal to write your own start menu, it is NOT legal (Just in case you were thinking about it) to take the start menu code, DLLs etc from Windows 7 and distribute that for windows 8...
