Just asking.... Is it possible that windows 8 which is designed if i'm not mistaken to be virus proof... and so far i've been using windows 8 and i've found no viruses....so i was wondering if the story i herd was that he can't delete a certain folder... because of a virus...but so far i wanted to verify it and in my virus samples i got from the net none worked its purpose on windows 8...so could the story i herd be true or false?

Just because Windows 8 is relatively new doesn't mean it can't get infected with viruses already out there. A lot of its code is carried over from Windows 7 so it can get infected just like Windows 7 can. Or just about any windows version depending on how the virus is written.

I never had a problem with virus from Win8 OS and I make a scan on my AV until now zero threat found.

Not being facetious....You could make a $Tril if you could write an OS that was antivirus proof! I don't think it would be possible. If it can be written, then someone can learn the code to hack it. Too bad that there will always be good and evil in the world we live in.

There are a lot of restrictions in Win8.

Most folk won't be aware of it.

Those who like to adapt/mod/build will be very frustrated.

More security = Less freedom

Security is probably the reason MS would give, but it means users don't have much flexibility.

They can only do the simple customisations MS allow.

What happened to the idea "it is your pc"?

Yea, security is a big, expensive, and freedom-eliminating problem. Please remind me of what OS, especially IE at the time was getting hacked so much it made their heads spin. They sent all their writers and engineers to security school to alleviate the problem. Perhaps they're taking it too far now. The pendulum swung too much the other way?

Nobody has ever claimed Windows 8 was written to be virus proof. Such a claim is ridiculous. Microsoft is including anti-virus software, but that isn't the same as being virus proof. anti-virus software is reactive, it removes viruses once you have them and tries to thwart known viruses before they get installed. It can't do much to stop new viruses that have not yet been identified.

That would be my thinking too. Wonder why they call them viruses? Sounds like something out of movie Terminator where Skynet computer becomes self-aware! lol!

You are correct in the fact that most people won't be aware of it.
Most people don't care about all the customization, they just want everything to run and be safe.
Large corporations don't want its employees doing customizations to their systems.
It is your PC but MS's OS. You can use it or run some other OS. You still have a choice.
Look at all the Security updates on XP and Windows 7. I would assume that these security fixes are built into Windows 8 and other changes to make it more secure. It will never be 100% but it is getting a lot better.

Considering that much of the code in 8 comes from 7 the vulnerability to viruses is not much different. Not that i dont trust in Defender, but I feel safer with Avast.

I seriously doubt Microsoft would put multi-billion dollar companies out of business (I.E. Nortons, AVG, Avast, etc) Virus, spam, spyware make money, and no big business will allow a guaranteed money maker to go out of business.
