Sync Windows Live ID question

One doubt, I login to the system with a Windows Live ID and then make some changes with the Charms on the desktop. If I reinstall windows and then login with the same Windows Live ID would the system still pickup the changes that I made.

If I remember right, yes, it will. I did that back when with the Developer Preview, changed the Desktop wallpaper, and the Start Screen color. Then I logged in with my Live account in the Release Preview and it picked literally ALL my settings from the Desktop and I think the Start Screen as well. By Charms, do you mean the sidebar UI or the apps? If you mean the apps, I don't think those will come over unless you're using the same Windows build, like I don't think the Consumer Preview apps will carry over to the Release Preview.

The only thing that came back for me when I reinstalled was my internet shortcuts that I placed on the Start screen and the desktop colour AFAIR. But it is a step in the right direction by MS. However the Apps did not reinstall (and that was on the same release).

This has been a feature that although wasn't missing from earlier versions of windows it is more intuitive (as most things are) in Win8.

I just checked in PC Settings, nope, apps don't carry over. That kind of sucks since I remember in the early days of 8 that it was going to do that for metro apps and not Desktop ones.

What syncs over are personalization settings, internet bookmarks, Desktop settings like mouse pointers and speed, language settings, Windows Explorer settings, passwords, and settings WITHIN apps like accounts in Mail.
