I bought a brand new SSD to replace my OEM Western digital slim 5400 rpm 1 tb. I restored an image I created with macrium reflect onto the SSD, which has windows and all the partitions from the OEM drive. With the OEM drive still inside the laptop, is it possible to boot off the SSD while it's attached in an external enclosure via USB? Is there any way to tell that the external is being used and not the OEM drive? For some reason the image I restore is stuck in a automatic repair loop and I have no clue what to do. Thanks

From one faily-noob to another I'd venture that a setting in Bios would allow for 'boot from external/boot from USB'. Once this is set it should work as long as the boot loader copied correctly. That autom repair loop sounds ominous though, not sure if that will continue to impact loading. See if you can find that bios setting and let us know if you get it to boot.
