Q1 - Exactly how did you "delete" the volume? - Was Ubuntu installed via WUBI or - in its own root partition and swap volume

Assuming you are familiar with Linux:

Q2 - Do you have a Live Linux CD (DVD) - Ubuntu, Mint etc that you can boot the PC from? - it does not need to be the same distro or version that you have "Deleted" - failing that, an equivalent bootable USB drive

Q3 - If Q2 is Yes - what can you see of the disk volumes on the PC - Do you see intact windows drives, and any partition remnants from the Ubuntu distribution? In a terminal, what does sudo fdisk -l tell you?

see here http://www.eightforums.com/installation-setup/6911-win7-win8-dual-boot-problems.html#post101070 my method for reinstalling grub - but I cannot comment on the state of your linux root volume

Sorry, could you need to answer some questions so that we can get some idea of what is wrong.
Bootable live Linux will see all volumes
Bootable WinPE = windows 7 or 8 setup disk will see windows ntfs data only.
XP setup will not repair win 7 and 8 bootmgr - but may be able to see NTFS volumes.
Win7 setup safer than 8.

any use?

only Windows - it will write a new bcd if you can boot to the command prompt with the windows 7 setup on usb with the shortcut Shift F10 after you have selected language and location, then
discover the windows 7 volume with
diskpart
list vol
if windows 7 is in x:\ select the disk and partition that that drive refers to, for instance disk 0, partition 2 and make that the selected disk:

sel disk 0

select the partition

sel part 2

then make it active

active

once it is active,

check the volumes again

list vol

if all is ok,

exit

bcdboot x:\windows /s x:

to write the bcd and boot files to the windows 7 volume and try to reboot

Good news! Fixed it myself :dinesh:

What I did, created a bootable Windows 8 USB using another system. Booted to defected laptop, pressed F9, selected USB harddrive to boot.

And luckily it ran Windows 8 RP setup. Choosed the drive which has Ubuntu installed first, but now it was free up. Installed Windows 8 RP and everything went like a charm. Very happy.

Thanks fafhrd, for help bro :thumb:. Hope this thread will benefit other users facing such horrible issue.
