After pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del I get into a blue screen with menu. If I exit this screen pressing Esc, the colors of all windows on my desktop change. I have to chage the theme to some other and then back to restore colors. How can I fix this behavior?

Instead of pressing Esc try log out, then log in to the account you just left. Of course this has the side effect of killing all running programs and running all startup programs etc..

I know this seems silly, but don't use Ctrl+Alt+Del. Anything you do there can be accomplished another way.

That doesn't fix the problem, I know, but at least you won't see the problem any more.

When I play a game and it gets a heavy lag, the Ctrl+Shif+Esc for task manager simply does not work. Only Ctrl+Alt+Del combination is responsive.

Ah, okay. Have you tried updating your video driver?

Please fill out your System Specs so we know what you have.

See here: How to See Your System Specs with "System Info"

Also, are you modding your theme? If yes, try a standard theme.

I found a fix, if anyone is interested:

Delete the Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\DefaultColors. (Credits to Mr. GRiM)
