Hi,I'm new here. I have Windows 8 Consumer preview installed as the only operating system on my pc. When I created the system image on an external HD I went to create a repair disc. I inserted the CD and hit "create" and got this message"System repair disc could not be created. The System could not find the file specified(0x8007002" Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You're quite welcome. Just curious...You installed from DVD and backed up an image on your external HD and the install disc led you there in case to recover?

Also, I looked up the specs on your MB you stated on your 1st post. What BIOS version do you have?

When you use the installation DVD the 2nd screen says "repair your computer" bottom left. After 4 or 5 mouse clicks it brings you to where it shows what images you have on your external HD and the option to restore. The Bios is A02.It's the first one. This model of the Alienware M17X has only been out about 6 weeks

Thank you. I wondered how that worked. Cool! Let's hope we never have to use it!

So 8 is running well on your machine? I have an Acer T690 with Pentium D dual core 3 gig. I maxed the memory to 2GB. I've thought of upgrading the BIOS, but figured that if it works, why fix it? 7 & 8 (both 32 bit) dual boot is working well. Never had a problem in 7. The only thing I've noticed in 8 is when I'm in Metro IE and switching back in forth windows sometimes that IE will white screen. I can see the curser blinking. Switching back and forth again the page will show. Kinda' strange.

I was first dual booting with W7 but I found that most of my benchmarking programs worked on 8 and I found a way to install MSI Afterburner to overclock my GPU so I went solo with 8 and so far so good; I'm lovin' this OS

That's good. Glad things are working out for you! I'm a fanboy of 8 too. Some power users aren't liking it so much because there's no choice of UI. They don't like the Metro start screen. Can't say as I blame them. If I had to sit behind a machine all day it would probably drive me nuts to stay on the desktop.

What speed and temp is your core overclocking at? I've thought about overclocking, but I think I'll need more cooling in the box, although it's got a CPU fan. I just don't wanna burn. I'll have to research more on that.

I can overclock my cpu to 45 on 4 cores; I can't go any higher till someone comes up with an unlocked bios where I can adjust voltage and other settings that are not available in the stock bios.My temps are in the mid 70's C under load. I have a great laptop cooler that really works well at keeping temps normal.I actually like the start screen and so far I haven't run into anything that would keep me from upgrading. Time will tell though.

I see you marked the thread solved. Good.

Excuse my ignorance, I'm not all that techy, is that 45 GHz? If so, what does 8 experience score that at? And if I may ask, what are all your scores?

My duos run at about 115 degrees Fahrenheit. Blowing the case out every three months or so really helps. When the cpu fan starts kicking on alot then I know it's time to clean house. My system bogs at OB video. I'm thinking about upgrading to a card or building a rig. Indecisive right now. I'm jealous of you guys on here, but then again I'm not a gamer or power user.
