Metro? What Metro?

I have been using the Metroized version of Win8 for months now. I just noticed the other day that I don't even think about Metro any more. I just Win+D on boot after logging in and just ignore it.
I do have to admit that I really like the Metro Weather App so I use that a few times a week. But still, Win+D and back I go.
All that fuss and bother I went through complaining about Metro and it has come down to hitting two keys on bootup.

This is true. A lot of the complaints are starting to sound more like crying over split milk than anything. A LOT of the functions of Windows 7 are still there in 8, it's just changed.

I been using Windows 8 a lot, getting all my hardware and programs running and I really like the new Start Screen. Its a lot easier to organize and find the programs I use. Always found the old Start Menu a PIA. The first thing I usually do is check my e_mail. I use Windows Live Mail and just one click from the Start Screen and it opens the Desktop and my Mail program. I have tried a few of the Metro apps and they are getting better. I also have a small Gadget on my Desktop which has Shutdown, Restart and Lock functions. I am in the Desktop 99% of the time and have no complaints on the way it runs. :thumb:

CR... you need to realise that because someone does not think like you does not mean that they are up for ridicule. Even if it were one person in 100, but it should be even more apparent that when 50% of the universe does not think like you, you have absolutely no place to put other people down because of it.

That's funny.

I used the bad smell analogy already in a post elsewhere.

You know the one.

Go into a public lavatory and at first you can barely tolerate the stench.

After a few minutes - your nose accustoms and it isn't so bad.

Stay there longer and you can't smell it at all.

That does not mean it is a nice smelling environment.

So why are you posting it again. We all know you hate Windows 8 so give it a rest.

Fish, I have a genuine question to ask. If you don't like Windows 8, don't care for it or apps, don't even want to associate with it then why do you insist on being on a forum dedicated for Windows 8 only to spew your dislike about something that chances are, you're not even using?

Geez, get a hobby, go outside, pet a little kitty.....

I simply asked you to clarify which of the other two posters is a troll and which is a hater, two terms you love to throw around when people express opinions you don't like. If you don't want to answer a simple question like this, I hope you realize you're free to take your own advice and not reply to me. There's no need to respond with still more thinly veiled insults. FTR, I've never wondered even once why you're such a fanboy; it's just not important to me.

Metro to me is not bad, it's not good, it's just completely in the background, under my radar. It isn't smelly because it's not noticeable AT ALL. I simply do not even realize it's there unless I think about it. I long ago stopped using the Start Menu in Win7. Same thing. It was always there but I just never used it or noticed it.
Mind you, I COULD use Metro just like I could have used the Start Menu. Its just a option of the operating system that I ignore, like the resource monitor.
Win8 Desktop gives me all the functionality that I used in Win7, is more responsive, and has all the stuff I am used to. Good enough. I will be installing the 1st shipping product without hesitation now. Metro is no longer any sort of concern to me.

You're right ... what metro?

If you don't install it you dont' have to hit Win+D! Thank god for Win7 ... long may it rule! ... which it does, without doubt! :thumb:
