Just wondering the best way of getting programs onto a new computer.

The only way I know of doing it is having a list and installing them one by one, or is there an easier and quicker way?

Thanks

The best, most reliable way is to install them one by one on the new machine. There are some programs that their folder within the Program Files folder on the old machine can simply be copied to the Program files folder on the new machine. Those programs are usually the smaller utilities and games. Most programs such as MS Office or large games cannot be copied easily since they put files in multiple folders and entries in the registry that would be painstaking to replicate. The hard part is knowing which programs can be copied like that.

At least one company makes some software that claims to be able to move installed programs between computers: PCmover - Limited Time Offer branded-pcmover-012014 - Laplink® Software. I've never used it so can't personally comment how well it works.

Laplink has changed their product line for PCMover, and NOW, the only version of PCMover that will move applications is PCMover Pro. The other versions will just move data and settings.
