permissions help when logged onto domain

I have two identical windows 7 computers that are logged onto a domain. One was originally set with the wrong user name and one wasn't. So on the one with the wrong computer name I right clicked computer, clicked manage, local user and groups, user, right clicked new user, then gave it administrator privileges.

Now the problem is when I'm logged onto the domain with that computer and I try to do administrator stuff on that computer I get this annoying account and password thing. They both have identical UAC permissions. So why is one computer doing that and the other isn't?

What are the settings of UAC for both? You say they are identical, but what are they?

Where you logged in on the domain account or where you logged in on the local account of the pc when you

When you did this on the local account it would not work, now you are logged in the domain. The privileges would only count for the local administrator account.

They were both set to Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer. Out of frustration I changed the computer being difficult to Never notify. That didn't fix my issue.

Where you logged in on the domain account or where you logged in on the local account of the pc when you
So on the one with the wrong computer name I right clicked computer, clicked manage, local user and groups, user, right clicked new user, then gave it administrator privileges.

When you did this on the local account it would not work, now you are logged in the domain. The privileges would only count for the local administrator account.

When I created the new account I was logged onto the local computer.

I am also the administrator of the domain. The domain seems to recognize me. I now have the permissions to create files on the domain drives. Before I did this the domain would not let me create files on the domain drives. This seems kind of contradictory to me. How can the domain seem to recognize me, but the computer won't let do things like install programs and update programs.

What do you mean by GPO's and AD? How would I check that?
Is this a home project that you are working on your Certification?

They are a part of the Domain management.

No. Its a small office. I'm trying to help my boss get his computer setup the way he likes it. Right now its quite frustrating not being able to even install programs or update programs.

I am not a system administrator but what i know it also depends on what version of windows server2003 and 2008 or ??? you are using.

And how to system is set up from the beginning in the AD etc.
But be aware that changing all kind of things without knowing what you exactly are doing can make the whole system unworkable.

Maybe this can help you How to Make a Domain User the Local Administrator for all PCs - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki

But as i said it all depends on your current setup and situation.

All i can say is google as much.

Tip: See if there are Helpforums more related to system adminstrators and you can get expert advice.
Maybe this site can be a startingpoint https://www.petri.com/
