Video files won't play is there a way to fix?

Hey guys,

I've got a bunch of video files from a recovery I had to do off a 4 terabyte drive.. yeah that was annoyingly long..

Some of them don't play saying "cannot render" - that's fine so I delete them..

I'm using VLC and Media Player Classic Home to try to view the videos.. sometimes VLC is better. and sometimes MPCH can play them... so I have to now try both programs if one doesn't read..

but some of them do try to play and play with shuddering sound or video.. is there anything to try to do with these? Is there a way to at-least try to fix them?

One thing worth trying that does not take very long is to remux the video. Demuxing splits the video into audio and video files. Muxing puts them back together. Sometimes just doing that con fix some problems. Of course you need muxing sofware that can work with the format in question.
