I installed windows 8 a couple of weeks ago. Everything was fine until about 3 days ago. When I turned off my PC it said something about a winlogon error and that I needed to insert a disk. My PC then began trying to open the disk but it couldn't because my disk drive is broken in the first place and can only open if I turn the whole tower on the side. Well the message kept opening and I kept closing it. Eventually my computer "Shutdown". Well to be clear, my monitor shut down but my tower stayed on. Eventually I had to crash shut it down by holding the power button. When I turned it on this morning my acer screen comes up, but it doesn't go to the windows loading icon. I try hitting the safe mode key (F8) but it didn't work. It's just stuck. I'm waiting for it to load or something. It seems as if this is some type of spyware hidden as an error. Nevertheless, this is a serious problem hurting my PC. My computer is about 4 years old, and used to run Windows vista. It has an intel Pentium processor with 4 gbs of ram.

Probably a good idea to boot the windows 8 install media - see if that can repair it.

If not, do a system reset.

Have you got another dvd drive or another machine you can attach to it?

If you can't get into windows you will need to access it from boot media or another machine.

My computer is booting up now. It took like a half an hour. My DVD drive is internal. And I have another computer with an internal DVD drive too. When I tired to terminate the win logon process it told me access denied. How do I get rid of this error now that I'm in the desktop?
