Solved Blank blue screen after startup before login.

Hey there! First time using forums as usually I never get to this point ^^

We have a computer in our office that has literally just bricked its self after yesterday. After a couple of start-ups the computer does go in as normal, although 90% of the time on startup it will load Windows then get to this Blue Screen and just die.

This is not an informative blue screen (BSOD) but literally just a blank blue screen, its similar to the blank black screen people are having.

If the computer goes to sleep, then it will simply just not wake up from this state.

I have tried booting safe mode and rolling back windows update to no avail, the drive is also visible in bios so there is no disk corruption etc.

I also tried an SFC scan to check if it was core files, and it wasn't.

Anything to try or any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

Did you run scans in safemode to see if it was virus/malware related? It sounds like it might be that, considering there isnt any core file corruption. Did you try a chkdsk to see if there were any problems with the drive itself? If not I would run both in that order.

Sorry about the long reply, I was on a customer site.

The machine has had numerous scans over the past couple of months, as it holds alot of customer information... I've looked to see if anythings looking at ports (which nothing was).

Will try running a CheckDisk and will report my finds back.

Thanks :)

So I ran a CheckDisk (managed to get into the machine via safe mode) and it worked for 2 attempts, both waking up from sleep mode when required.

After the second attempt the third did not go aswell, simply repeating the problem. Start-up repair also failed.

I tried enabling PSU failover thinking that maybe the PSU wasn't getting enough power when returning from sleep mode, which did not work either.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

THe only thing I can think of from this point on is to just blow it all away and reinstall Windows if at all possible. Make sure to backup any important data.

Unfortunately so, will just have to boot up Trinity Rescue Kit and move all my data.

Thanks for your help anyways!
