Problem restoring disc image held on external drive

Hi

I need to boot to a DVD/CD recovery CD, I've done it many times before in BIOS on old PC.
New PC is 64 bit with Windows 8.1

I'm finding the Gigabyte GA H81M DS2V Dashboard UEFI confusing and don't want to make changes that I might regret.

From days and days of searching I think that I have to:-

access the Dashboard (I know how to get there)
then to disable secure boot,
then change boot order to DVD/CD,
then save and exit,
then re-start PC,
then put recovery CD in drawer, and plug in external drive,
then restart PC and from there recovery CD should run and from there I should be able to access the disc image and restore.
then change the boot order back
then go back to Dashboard and enable secure boot

Can anyone please tell me if these actions are correct, or if not, where I'd be going wrong?:( I've reached that desperate stage now and would be very grateful for any help.

Doesn't the Novatech have a key you can press at boot time that will bring up the boot menu, where you can select the CD\DVD drive to boot from?

What recovery disc are you trying to boot (what software)?

Hi Ztrucker I had to resort to the 'old bios' to do the restore. I was just hoping to learn a bit about the Dashboard but perhaps it will come with time. Thanks for responding.
