why is it every time i log out of minecraft my screen goes blank and white and it locks up

That is like calling a mechanic up on the phone and asking them why does your car leaking fluid when shut off for a while.
Really need more information. If the resolution is different for Minecraft then what you have your normal resolution, yes it can do that. Really need to know more specifics. What is the mfg & model of the computer, what are you using for a screen to play the game on.
There are a couple of different forums dedicated to Minecraft. Have you looked in the Support section on those forums for any insight if others are having the same issue.
