Hi - don't know where to post this other than here - sorry - have an anti malware program that keeps revealing ''pups'' (lists them individually) and don't know what to do about them - i.e. just leave them (as i've been doing) or delete them ..have no idea what they reference - thanks in advance - Edythe

Me neither so I use Google Search religiously to get knowledgable about things I think I care about.

Since you've been handed the names of the programs (I think, based off the wording of your post), you can search for each name, find out what the program is for, see other netizens' commentary about each one, and decide if you want to use "Control Panel" and "Uninstall Program" to remove each one individually. Or not, because maybe you won't care about what they do (like, for example, check for updates automatically or whatever).

An ACTUAL example of a program that I searched for, decided against, and uninstalled is the Bonjour process automatically installed with iTunes - totally useless in my computer environment.

Bonjour is a necessary application for iTunes.

These pup programs (could also be potential unsafe programs, but thats not for this) ,are usually installed with another install package. To prevent these installations you need to take some time for the installation process and choose for the custom installation. By doing so, you'll see what the installation package will install above the program you want and so you can decide to install them or not install them (by unchecking the box).

Whenever I help people with pups I go to programs and features and ask them which they don't recognize and uninstall those.
Keep in mind that not every pup is a pup for you.

Personally. I don't want any PUPS running around my HDD so I always let Malwarebytes delete them.:geek:

I've always done that and have never experienced a problem because of the action.

Bonjour is a necessary application for iTunes..

Not correct.

Years of uninstalling it are all the proof I need.

As always, YMMV, as noted with the above "...totally useless in my computer environment"...

Same for me, always had a problem with iTunes whenever I uninstalled bonjour.
Where does YMMV stand for?

Pardon - I'm outside intermittently trying to repair an augered sprinkler system pipe...

"YMMV" is the standard disclaimer from auto manufacturers when they advertise that THEIR car gets 497 miles per gallon (er...kilometers per liter...) - "Your mileage may vary".

Used on the 'Net to mean "...but that's for MY case, your case may be different".

acronymfinder.com probably has this acronym defined - or urban dictionary.

I use-

I have no PUPs.

Or viruses, or any malware of any kind.

Hell, just installing Opera gives me warnings.

The better the antivirus you have the better off you are.

Would you please make a screenshot of this list?
I'd like to see how this program shows you the list, because some are using the names of the programs and others are using definitions.
