I have a Samsung 500T1C laptop running windows 8. I have a program I use regularily .When opened it should show copies of the book covers for major jazz fake chord books. Since a crash all I get now is the pix shown which is all the books under a Acrobat reader icon. How can I get back to normal?

Having a lot of problems with restore, Only one choice is usually given and most times the computer fails to restore blaming a security program for its failure. Usually in desperation I do a complete 'back to factory' reset.
I would like to find a good restore program but can't find in the store anything satisfactory. Have you any advice?

Getting back to icon problems, I seem to remember that when the program was opened the icons as I see it now would be shown but then one by one they would change to the book cover picture.

The only advice I can think of is that somewhere in my Samsung laptop software I saw they had a 'restore' or backup program.
I am very keen to make a bootable restore backup with all my data, files etc saved on it.
I tried once on a 8GB stick, but it wasn't big enough. Now I keep getting that flagged warning 'Check backup disk space (Important)'.
Next, sometime, I'll try a DVD, but I'm worried about my BIOS startup sequence, and from past bad experience am loathe to meddle in BIOS (or Registry) ever again.
Good luck!
