I'll buy that. :thumb: I would really like to get a tablet or slate at some point. I have no aspirations of it ever replacing my desktop or ever trying to do all that I do on my desktop on it. Windows 7 does me just fine on my desktop for work. I think I might actually enjoy playing with Windows 8 on a tablet or slate.

I'm starting to see the plan Micorsoft has for extending 7's support until 2022. It's a failsafe for if 8 doesn't turn out great and a failsafe for businesses to keep upgrading to 7.

Unlike you where "everything just works" some people are having problems playing games because the Windows 8 video and sound drivers aren't up to scratch yet. That and some people would rather run Windows 7 on their desktop than struggle with Windows 8.

I had problems running games on the 64-bit CP, so have gone back to 7 on this machine.

But I have the 32-bit CP on the other laptop, which isn't used for gaming.

And one of the drives in the desk-top machine has the 32-bit DP installed.

So, I haven't given up on 8, I'm actually using both.

So when a customer goes to buy an OEM PC (from HP, Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, ect) they will be able to CHOOSE which OS they want for the foreseeable future even after 8 debuts? That is one solution to the Metro issue. I accept that as long as Windows 7 will be supported fully for many years to come.

This would apply to enterprise as well as regular consumers?

With a HD 3000 you certainly not play the same games I play. Games like Skyrim and BF3 need way too much power for a tablet and for me Windows 8 is a tablet OS, I see no point to use it on a PC if you use the PC to play high GPU and CPU demanding games.

Actually, I can't play SOME games that I want to right now, but I'm currently in the stage of rebuilding my desktop case and my system. I'll be rocking an AMD Trinity APU with probably a Radeon 7000 series GPU in CrossFire with 12 gigs of RAM, probably everything overclocked as it can be, with a SSD, and hopefully 32 TBs of storage space in a RAID 5, so a total of 16 TBs. Not only that, I'll have a snazzy newly rebuilt case I built with my hands to house all this.

I plan on future proofing this build.
