Solved Desktop icons location

Hi all

When navigating to windows explorer > desktop folder it shows me icons but none of these appear on my desktop


Is this correct ?

Yep, this is normal. The true location of the desktop is the C:\User\(user-name)\Desktop (only your user account) folder and the hidden C:\Users\Public\Desktop (all users) folder.

The Desktop link under Favorites in the navigation pane just happens to also show the default icons that will normally only show on your true desktop if you had turned them on. That's all.

Sorry to ask such a lame question I tried adding them manually and then it showed duplicate icons in the favourites>desktop folder
