The first this, is not going to work for that. Any system restore points before this happened, can go back to earlier date ? Look at numbers 9 and 10 in Option 2 of this tutorial.

:( Its impossible

I have follow either the option 2 either options 3. Its say changes should be immediate, but for in my case no. So I try Icon Cache again but no :(

Just to say that in first place my registry hasn't not these keys - so I have create them alone
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons (Opt 3)
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Applications\Explorer.exe (Opt 2)

PS: I haven't a kind of fresh system-restores.

So you even tried this to delete highlighted key and rebooted the PC still no return of proper icon ?

Untitled.jpg

Then suggest to try a system file checker and DISM command.
From Start Button, right click and select (Admin) Command Prompt, copy and paste this and press enter, will take a bit of time to finish

sfc /scannow

Again at same (Admin) Command Prompt copy and paste this into command Prompt and press enter, again will take awhile, let it finish

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Reboot the PC after it finishes, check to see if icons come back, let me know if System File Checker did find any integrity violations and fixed them or not.

These two test wasn't able to finished to end and fix the issues.
It's good idea to try again in safe mode with network supported? I believe that was unable either cause of BitDefender Total Security (I have try to disable it and run again but BitDefender isn't so easy to full stop ti ) either cause for (background) running some services and programms.

Just in case I upload the logs

Could be cause of certain optional windows update think KB3022345, but that should of been fixed. BitDefender has it's issues preventing system restore from working i know, but System File checker i am not sure of that. Very hard to completely disable BitDefender i had it and removed it, went to another AV because of having to use safe mode to always use system restore.

Do all windows updates recently, some should have fixed issue with the possible false positive of system file checking being corrupt not being able to fix as many had this issue in past.

I do not have WinRAR to open CBS.Log to see it, tell if this was the case, try text file.

In safe mode (with enable netwroking) I haven't issue with sfc command, it complete successful but I have with the second one. I upload the logs again in zip format.

I also notice that in safe mode the explorer has the right disk icons

Seems to me i am most likely correct on reasons for system file checker to find corruption and not being able to fix, due to certain windows update that should of been fixed on most systems by now by other updates, as said was a false positive reading from system file checker.

Now if icons working in safe mode, then seems like some other software or running software it causing this. Clean boot is another way of determining this like safe mode. Means have to find out which program or possible software driver is causing this issue by eliminating all processes except Microsoft. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

Hello,

I do some tests and deactivate some services & programs but i don't have find anything. I give up. Thinking again about my issue I think that maybe Revo Unistaller has make this. I have the paid versions and Ι most often use the aggressive method to find footprints.

So, must I solved this thread?

Can't say really solved as you have not found the issue, just a possible reason for the issue. When you told me it was good in safe mode and drive icons were there, that tells me something on PC is doing this. Did you try clean boot and did it resolve the icon problem, if it did you start off by disabling startup items in task manager. Then can look into services running of non microsoft services. Hard i know, step by step process, do one at a time enabling them.

System File Checker and DISM did not help, most likely not due to corrupt files in windows.

True uninstaller sometimes can remove items from registry it feels are related to uninstalled program, happened to me with certain software before. Must be careful and go over list before deleting and make restore points before the uninstall.

Revo does make backup registry files is a decent program use moderate next time, not aggressive ,you would find backup here after uninstall
