I've noticed in the last week that whenever I double-click a sub-folder in the Downloads folder, it opens TWO identical new windows. It's super annoying and wasnt happening before. I scanned for Malware AND ran MS Defender. Both came out clean.

I should add that my Windows Explorer also now crashes every now and then. Meaning all my Explorer windows close down but Windows still operates.

Any tips on whats going on and how to fix this?

Over clicking. Check to make sure that you have the mouse set for double click, not single click.
