creating a shortcut to sort desktop icons by name

I'd like to create a shortcut that sorts desktop icons by name in alphabetic order.
Wondering if this is possible. Without a shortcut it takes several clicks though the desktop content menu (right click).

Several clicks, as you do mean this ? 2 clicks

Same here, right-click of the Desktop and Sort by gives choices, has worked in several versions of Windows.

Yep, 2 clicks , but believe OP looking for shortcut to do same.

Depends upon where the shortcut is stored, if on the Desktop it's still 2 clicks, on the Taskbar only one click. Unless, of course, a setting is changed to allow single clicking everywhere.

True, just trying figure out the logic to why need to do with a shortcut

after you set it its just done. no need to re set it.

first click to sort by name sorts by reverse alphabetical order, need to repeat process for alphabetical order.
Not a big time saver, just would like a one click shortcut

Under view uncheck Auto Arrange, then click Sort by Name, try this.
