Hi everybody,
I'm running on Windows 8.1.
Set storage space with parity and 3 disks 2Tb 1Tb and 500Gb.
The 500Gb went wrong so I add a 2Tb, the space seems to repair by itself.
Everything seems ok to me and i remove the 500Gb.

But now some files are missing, directory structure seems ok, but some folders are empty.
Is that possible something went wrong with repair or remove disk
Is there a powershell command to reassign the 500Gb to the storage pool and recover data
pretty sur that drive is not dead but just went to sleep)

Thanks for your help

Some files have been missing since you remove the 500GB disk. I suggest you clone all the patitions on 500 GB disk to your 2 TB disk. I think there should be enough free space on the 2 TB disk. To do that you may need to shrink the partition on the 2TB with Windows disk management to create unallocated space. right click My computer--Manage-Disk Management

Storage spaces runs on the same code that Samba does. It basically acts like a Virtual set of drives. The intention is that if you are connected to a Domain, the Virtual Storage Spaces are synced on the Raid setup that you are using for keeping the data in sync. The Spaces sync with a SANS or a NAS in most setups, using either Samba or Microsoft Server for handling.

Once you lose the Virtual drives, it can make it hard to recover with conventional methods. Items like Forensic Tools for Windows and Linux can possibly find the data, and help you to retrieve it. Everyone has their own choice on what exact software to use for data recovery.

Brink may have a solution for recovery that we may not be seeing. I only found a FAQ on here, in how to set them up. Looks like R-Studio is going to be your best bet, as long as you have not been futzing with the computer that had the Storage Spaces on it. Thanks for your help.

In fact, the 500Gb HDD is not dead. And with testdisk, I manage to view what was inside the storage space.
And now i'm pretty sur the space didn't go wrong,
I lost my files before the setup of spaces with some inexplicable wrong manipulation. Maybe with Bitsync.
I think my files are lost for good now.

Thanks again
