The machine has fell into a pattern of failures now after doing a 4 disk Recovery Procedure. It was doing something similiar before the Recovery effort. The scenario now is,,,,,, The desktop goes solid black with all Icons intact and locks up. I have to force a shutdown wait a few seconds then I can log back in. It did it 4 times yesterday and It sure is sounding more and more like a bad electronic component/chip. I'm going to futch along through out the weekend and then see if the local store manager was serious about replacing this machine on his nickle on Monday, The HP replacment is long and drawn out and it would be a bench rebuild in most cases and not physical replacement.
I'm curious if this is a common happening or anyone else having similiar issues and if so what's the fix?
