Computer randomly restarting.

Hey everyone! I consider myself pretty darn smart with computers, operating systems and I just cannot figure this out.

My computer randomly restarts itself, for no apparent reason. I could be at my desktop with nothing running and boom. Restarts. I could be gaming for 8 hours, and boom restarts. There is no valid reason why it's doing it. Just randomly doing it. I had recently purchased a Video Card as well as a Power Supply from Newegg (It was a Sapphire 5GB DDR5*i think* card), and the PSU I went from a 350 to a... 700 (Once again, I think, I'll check in the morning). It got to the point where I had to refresh the computer because it wouldn't recover. I refreshed it and it didn't restart anymore, it was great! Then I installed 8.1, and the crashes haven't stopped. Below are a couple of the logs that have popped up.

I've checked my connections and they are great, I ran Memtest and it came back as perfect, my CPU fans are running at 99%, and I have no viruses (I mean, fresh clean version of Windows... Lol) -- A little note to add, sometimes when the computer restarts sometimes I get no video at all. Perhaps my PSU is too weak? My temperatures are NEVER that high, and it's so random that the computer restarts there is no pattern to it, what so ever...

I'm just kind of going guano crazy, and for the life of me cannot figure out what's going on... ANY help is appreciated, and if you have any questions, I can answer them.

You may want to check all of your temperatures by downloading hwmonitor. Google it. Sometimes if the board gets to hot, it will either shutdown or restart.

I've had dealt with computers with problems like this and its always ended up being an unstable motherboard.

Make sure your BIOS is up to date, as some BIOS revisions have stability issues with Windows 8.1.

I'm rocking HWMonitor, FurMark, and a couple other CPU readers (or rather, was I'm down to just the first two I listed) - below is the HWMOnitor picture, and a FurMark picture showing temps.

I haven't checked the BIOS, however I did reset the BIOS thinking it was the issue, it prompted me to install an update, which I did. -- I had 8.1 with my previous graphics card, same computer and everything was fine. I'm thinking it's that; 'One in twenty graphic cards fail' myth. -shrug- IT's odd that it works with 8, but with 8.1 it has a ton of crash problems.

I see you have a R9 200 series. What version of the card is it? I've heard many problems with the 270x and the 280x. Also check the manufacturers website for a BIOS update on the video card. All of the R7 and R9 series cards support UEFI GOP support for hardware fast boot. I love AMD motherboards, but dislike AMD graphics cards, unless we all are lucky enough to get a good card. I've wanted to try my luck on a sapphire R9 270X, and see good reviews on them, but have always gotten NVIDIA.

You are right, it definitely could be a bad graphics card, but as I said, check to see if there is a vbios update.

Cut off part of PSU voltage, unless missing something can not see, but isn't the +12v Low, even +5v, +3v ? Can be a PSU issue.

SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X 100365VXL Radeon R9 270 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card - Newegg.com - would be the card I have.
680W ATX 12V POWER SUPPLY PC Computer Desktop 2 Fans PCI-E (SaveMart) - Newegg.com - Would be the PSU I obtained with it.

Also, I called and asked Sapphire today and they said that there is no BIOS upgrade, and likely it's something either with the core of the card, or the PSU. I figured a card that requires 500W would sustain with a 680, but perhaps I'm mistaken...

Cut off part of PSU voltage, unless missing something can not see, but isn't the +12v Low, even +5v, +3v ? Can be a PSU issue.

I do not know if they are low, I was never good at the comparison of voltages with what is required, hah.. I'm going to probably go buy a PSU from Bestbuy and try it out, see if it works. Anything to get it running again...

Not a good PSU, always try to get a 80 plus PSU, use HWMonitor again post screen capture of the PSU voltage all of it this time, did seem low. As could be your issue rather then your video card.

More in lines of PSU you need, would also need to make sure it meets your system specs requirements, connectors needed and dimensions to fit in case.

I think it's my PSU. I unplugged my GPU last night and started using my onboard, been running solidly with no crashes, attached is requested picture of PSU.

Heh, yeah finding one that has long enough cords would have been awesome, I mean these work, but totally as a temp..

To me after having it run stable after disabling the card and using the onboard would say that its a card issue and not a PSU issue. However your PSU voltage does seem low. You may want to look at getting a different one.

Temps.jpg Look at plus +3v it's 1.9v, look at +5v is 1.7v and +12v is 7. 8. Yes this is low most likely issue. Can check in BIOS and compare the readings to these. Not sure on that, but i can't see how a video card can lower the voltage, unless it's not enough power.

Yes, get new power supply. The lowest the power supply should be at for the 12V is maybe 11V and the high is 13V. running at 7V could definitely ruin your motherboard. Plus as stated above, the 3V and the 5V is also low. Not good at all.
