Solved I would like to permanently disable my laptop touch screen

Why? because my Samsung ATIV Book 9 plus screen has a slight crack, I mean barely noticable, but it totally wrecked the touch screen as in it starts to freak out. little circles come up on it as if it is being touched and so, it seems when I disable the touch screen that does not happen. But when I restart the computer it enables itself. Also sometimes it enables itself in the middle of the computer being on. I have gone to the Human Interface Devices and even clicked on the uninstall of the touch screen, but it installs itself right back in minutes. I can disable it, then if I restart, it is enabled again. And it can mess with things when it is enabled as it starts flipping out.

So, I want to be able to have it permanently disabled somehow. Is that a possibility? and it is incredible if it is not. I do not want to spend for a new laptop screen. The crack is barely visible, actually, but it is there from top to the bottom of the screen but barely visible.

Using Autoruns, you have to hunt down all the EXEs, DLLs, etc etc etc that involve the touchscreen operations, and disable said files. I did that for my extra antivirus program [now mummified] -- and it has not come back to life since then.

You may have to just bite the bullet and send it in to get fixed.

Thank you. I downloaded Autoruns but can not find anything that has to do with the touch screen. I searched "touch", I searched "screen", I searched "HID" , I searched "human" I cannot find anything. I really don't want to spend $200 at least, to fix this. The computer is fine when the touch screen is off. Sometimes when I restart the computer is flipping it out and I can barely get to the place to disable it. Other times when I restart it is totally fine, but I just disable it so it does not act up. I just wish I can have it permantly disabled. -Lara

Thank you. So far so good. We shall see. I use my computer for court reporting and it is on realtime, so I can not have it flipping out when I am doing it. And I do love the touch screen, got to get out of the habit of touching it, because I have really gotten in the habit, I move my cursor to another part of the page while editing using my touch screen instead of my mouse, much faster, just touch the word instead of moving it to the word. But, not worth at the moment paying $200, especially because my computer screen looks perfect, I have to slant it or look at it sideways to even see the hairline crack that has ruined the touch screen. And not only does it make it flip out, the touch screen to the right of this slight hairline crack, does not work at all. That is the right full quarter of the screen. -Lara

The Samsungs for all of their devices, have a nasty habit for the Gorilla glass part breaking.

My son had a S4 Active. It fell out of his pocket and broke the cover glass like your tablet did.

You cannot just buy the new case. You have to buy the case with a new screen in it. Because of the seal for the screen and face glass.
