Recycle Bin wont open

Hi All

Got a 12 month old laptop running 8.1. Have put some photos in recycle bin by mistake but need to recover them, trouble is recycle bin wont open. It opens briefly but then closes again, same in safe mode. I have found a `solution` on line to restore it but it means deleting all files in there.Is the another way to recover files?

Try copy & pasting this: shell:RecycleBinFolder in the Run dialog to open it and see if it then stays open long enough to restore your files, then you can delete and restore Recycle Bin.

EDIT: Also To open the Recycle Bin window (showing deleted objects on all drives):
C:\> start ::{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
or
C:\> start shell:RecycleBinFolder
or
C:\> start C:\$Recycle.bin



To list deleted objects on a specific drive:
C:\> dir /s/a <driveletter>:\$Recycle.Bin
(NB, the original filenames will not be shown in this mode.)

In addition to the above. I find the easiest way to open any system folder is to use: TreeSize Portable Free .
Download and right click to run as Admin then scan C: drive. Double click on $RECYCLE.bin, you'll see the listing on the right hand side, use drag and drop to copy items from it to another drive

Oh I didn't think of that. You could use 7Zip if you have it too.
