Aero isn't gone. You have to run Windows experience Index and then you will get aero. See, I have Aero:

32 bit version works well as a Windows To Go on a 16 GB Sandisk Cruzer on an Intel Atom N450 Packard Bell dot s netbook with 2 GB RAM.

Installation was very slow, mostly taken up with installing all the apps I will never use (netbook screen resolution too low).

Unlike the CP, the RC recognizes the Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.0) and loads the drivers. Also unlike the CP, the SD cardreader is not recognized!

Aero looks just fine. No speed issues. It seems 7-zip can no longer open the windows 8 install.wim

Some glitches with screen redraw in this edit window as I scroll down, it leaves horizontal lines.

Sound, internet speed and video streaming brilliant.

So yes, I'm happy with it.

See how it goes

Love it. :) Just deleted my Windows 8 Consumer Preview partitions, installed the RP and have been enjoying ever since earlier this morning.

I like the performance the visual changes for the user-interface has been bad. The scroll bar has managed to look worse than before and the mouse cursor and loading animation are just blah. The performance feels even better so I that I do like it and if they can keep making the performance better they will have a solid performing product. The design and function is where they have to focus more on though.

I love it, it makes Windows 7 look like its standing still, I can't wait to see this on a tablet.

RP has the same "snappiness" feel of the DP. The CP felt sluggish and I thought it was a big step bass akwards. I am very relieved to find that Win8 got its mojo back!

I have a lousy 8GB/month cap, and I don't like Win 8 enough to blow another
fortnight's-worth of bandwidth on it.

    Borderline pathetic.
During installation on an Acer laptop all devices were recognized.
Release Preview seems faster and smoother.
M$ could implement the start menu in Windows 8 so users would have a choice to use Metro or Desktop style interaction.

Overall I think there is an improvement and M$ has still several month until final release.
When I get used to Metro maybe I would like it.

At first its a bit confusing but once you get the hang of using it, it is great. Some of the new features I love like the changes made to the task manager and that you change startup programs using that, and the way you can choose the picture for the log in screen. Others are not as good such as if you want to add a program to the start up folder you have to navigate into the app data folder and find it from there and it gets confusing on where to find it.

I'm running it as a dual boot with 7. I don't hate it per say, but I'm not feeling any love for it either. It's not intuitive, and this seemingly random switching back and forth between Metro and the desktop is wearing thin. If Metro would just go away on a non touch device I might buy into it. The way it is now I don't see ever ponying up any cash to upgrade from Windows 7.

Who is switching back and forth from Metro and Desktop? The only time I see Metro is after boot/restart.

When they shift the 0x0000005D idiocy then I'll probably like it - but at present it's minus two sales....
