As a new member of EightForums (from SevenForums) I feel that first I should introduce myself a little bit in relation to computers
My name is Jon, I use my PC's for gaming, sim racing, work, internet browsing, video editing and watching videos (included DVDs which I hear won't be out-of-the-box supported by Windows 8) and listening to music.
I am currently running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (on an SSD) with a self-built AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition, 8GB DDR3-1333 and an AMD Radeon HD 6970 machine. I have not touched Windows 8 yet
Now that's out of the way, I'll get down to the point of this thread
I have been looking at videos of Windows 8 recently and noticed that the snap feature being demonstrated wasn't allowing applications to be snapped so that 1 half of the screen had one application and the other half had another application. Instead it was something more the the likes of 70% to 30% at most. Now these were explained as being "Metro" applications but I was wondering if it applied to everything. I usually run two instances of applications for example, one side Google Chrome, another BBC iPlayer or a DVD, or Word, or even Google Chrome again when comparing two products let's say. I find this snap feature extremely useful in Windows 7 - I love it! But what worries me is that I don't know if I will be able to do this in Windows 8.
My screen has a resolution of 1920x1080 making it really easy to look at a piece of work I'm typing up on one side, and an internet page on the other. Both given an equal number of pixels on the desktop. I would really miss this if I went to Windows 8 and discovered it wasn't there.
Could any Windows 8 users possibly enlighten me?
