Redirect Libraries

New desktop running 8.1.

After a week or so of setting it up I discovered I had a bigger partition set up on C: labelled Data, I found out why this is so and decided it was a good idea. (Never had this before on a new computer).

So I researched and discovered how to redirect my Libraries to the partition labelled Data

I copied over my files. I understood some of my programmes may need their save to defaults changed.

I went into the Word set up and changed the Save default.

I tested it out with a Word document today and find that my files are still being saved in the original C: Libraries as well as the new D: location. Although today a word doc still didn't save as default to the new location.

Is there something more I need to do?

At the moment I have still left all the original files on the C: drive until I'm sure the new location is working well before I delete them.

I was also planning on setting up Win 8's File backup on to my Homegroup laptop but will hold off for now as I'm not sure it will work if I have changed my Libraries locations.

Did you make sure settings in Word is set to go to the D: drive? All the Library icon is, is a shortcut that points to the folder location.

Thanks broe23, yes I checked and went through the procedure again and at the moment it is saving to the new location but still saving in the old C Documents folder. I must be doing something wrong.

Tried the redirect Libraries procedure again to the new location on D: drive but still the same problem. The files are still saving to the C: drive also, which defeats the purpose. I then deleted the files on the old C: drive Documents folder to discover that they also deleted from the new D: location so then I had to restore them all again.
