Solved Restore Public folder and Default folder
Hello,
Running Windows 8.1 Pro. I accidentally deleted c:\users\public and c:\users\default and I cannot share documents with my family and cannot create new user account. How to restore windows 8.1 public and default folder?

Hello Windows8use, and welcome to Eight Forums.
Double check to see if they may still be in the Recycle Bin to restore.
If not, then see if you may be able to do a
system restore using a restore point dated before you deleted these folders to hopefully fix this.

Try creating new ones in users, right click> choose new> pick folder> and rename it Public, of course you'll have to refill everything in it.

Thank Brink and Cliff S for reply.
However, my PC doesn't have any restore point.

Hey Cliff,
It should, but with the Default folder issue and the issue he has with libraries in his other thread, it may be best to just refresh.

Oh I didn't know there were other issues. A system image would've come in handy he huh?
windows8use after you get everything set up, get something like Macrium Reflect and start making monthly system images, I always have one no older than a month, and usually make one before making changes or experimenting(like when installing a theme or
before Patch Tuesday(especially then).

Do not touch anything that say's NTUSER. they belong to a registry hive(one reason they are hidden) and are your user settings, any changes that are pending, etc..
