You can password protect in BIOS, that is one way. I was talking about taking the drive out of the tower, pretty easy. :)

EDIT: How many user accounts? You can also set passwords for those in Windows Users settings.

Put it and any other electronics (ie flat screens, speakers, a/v equipment) into a trailer and haul it yourself. Movers are only paid to get stuff from point A to Point B. Between those two points, they may have to move stuff around to get the truck & trailer to scale out on state truck scales. Also stuff is sometime warehoused, with the warehouse using day labor who will just toss stuff out of the truck.

Before the stuff gets packed. Take a lot of pictures, notate any existing damage, and above all, keep an eagle eye on them, while they remove items from the house, and place into the truck.

When we moved my mother, we ended up with the truck full, and still had to pack the car with some items that were not boxed. Then just placed her car on a trailer attached to the truck. It made things a whole lot easier, since my wife or daughter could not get time off to drive the car.

How is that done?

Yes found User Acct site -just 'me' -no others use this computer... and I will create a password to lock-out access ..didn't even realize i could do that ! LOL but- don't have anything 'personal' i.e. bank accounts, etc etc. but will still do the ''lock-out' choice... thanks so much

Is the company bonded?
I'm sure they've got better things to do than unpacking your PC and try hacking into it.

Is the company bonded? I would assume 'national' companies are so bonded but so what? what does 'that' prevent?

one would think so..but electronics can 'mysteriously disappear .

Haven't moved in years, but used to do it regularly. Things that always went with me and NEVER with the movers: computers, guns, jewelry, important personal papers. Repack your car to make room for these things, and anything else valuable or irreplaceable you may own.

Totally agree with you !! - all 'valuables are already moved/relocated... but ...i can't take computer in the car and the 'hard drive' someone referred to is something i have no idea how to take out of the tower which weighs a ton.. forwhateveritsworth, I have original packing box ..if it gets damaged i can live with it - they're cheap enough to replace -have 2 backup hard drives going with me.

I don't know if you have that option but when I moved we used something called Pods its like a uhaul but you pack up this box yourself and they come and take it away to your new place and deliver it on a certain date.

Stuff can still disappear from a POD.

Rent a U-Haul and car carrier as I suggested before. Pack the UHaul with clothes and stuff you need until the truck arrives. That includes all electronics.

Moving trucks have been known to get delayed a couple days or even a week. Remember also that Movers do not move chemicals, house hold cleaning agents, lawn mowers, gasoline containers, etc. That also includes foods.

We have more household stuff in our lives these days, than we did 40 years ago. Also we have stuff that we cannot afford to lose. Especially electronics.

If you have the original packing box, UPS the tower to yourself at your new address or to a nearby friend.
