Miracast or WiDi advice

Bought a lenovo z50-75 amd fx 7500 with 2gb dedicated graphics

It have WiDi support...

Searched miracast but says 'intel' supported..

My tv dont have the support. But got 2 usb. One for updating tv and other for input.

What should i get to have widi?

Best Buy had on the shelves a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. The packaging had hardly any information printed outside. The tiny booklet in the packaging offered the bare minimum. So I had to look it up on the internet.

It's a one-piece adapter with HDMI on one end which plugs into an HDMI slot on the HDCP-compliant monitor. The other end is a USB plug. If the monitor has a USB slot that outputs power, like recharging portable devices, then the USB plug serves the purpose of powering the adapter. If there is no USB slot, then a power adapter with USB slot can suffice.

Then, it works the same way as Bluetooth via pairing, and has the same limitations of distance and obstructions. I will be installing it tomorrow, and will wonder if it shares Bluetooth's occasional distortions.

The following work with Miracast: WDTV Live streaming device, Amazon Fire TV Stick. Other than that, it is a dead technology that never went anywhere.

Yea, WiDi seems to be pretty much dead. Guess Intel didn't pay enough bribe money to OEMs.

That is correct. Sony was the only one to advertise about it, when Windows 7 came out. That campaign lasted but a year.

There's wireless; and then, there is wireless. The packager took it for granted it is assumed WiFi.

Simple plug-n-play. But my imprinted brain was thinking WiFi=router/internet. I turn off WiFi when not browsing; which means I turned off WiDi.

After I turned WiFi back on, I could not get the OS to recognize the WiDi.

Now, I'm thinking I needed to 'reboot' the WiDi by turning the TV off and on. The packager probably took that for granted, as well.

No, there is only one form of wireless 10soonerlater. WIDI will never work, because there are no devices with the firmware on them, that are capable of that dead technology. You are chasing ghosts at this point.
