Any way to active systray icons?

So I have a Genius G-Pen 560 Graphics Tablet(as in the peripheral device for drawing), and I installed the drivers and it's all good expect for the fact that I can't active pen pressure because the only way to open the tablet settings is an icon in the systray. When I was running Windows XP and 7, I could just chose the "show" option which would make the icon visible for me to click on, but Windows 8 (of course) doesn't do this. When I put the drop down option to "show icon and notifications", a little popup appears telling me that the ion will be visible once it is active. The thing is, there's no way for this icon to ever become active. Even unplugging and re plugging the tablet does not help.

I tried getting a guy from Microsoft to help me, but he tried all the same things I did to no prevail...

Anybody here know what I can do? Even if it involves some sort of coding/program that can help me?

Thanks.

Just for grins try Winkey Q. It should show a Settings input line in the Start Screen. Try searching some settings terms. Maybe there's another interface where you can change them.

Does the icon show in Taskbar and Navigation Properties? If so, make sure it's set to be shown.

On my system, W8.0 it brings up the Start Screen with Apps selected and an input line. Underneath Apps is Settings. If you click that you can search the settings. MS likes to shuffle things around on every release so perhaps 8.1 is different.

I user Start8 so maybe that has something to do with it? I'm also on 8.1 + all updates.

Win key+Q brings up a blue search area on the right side of the screen.

You mean like this where you can click Settings to search Settings as I noted originally?

I've done this already. As i stated in my original post "When I put the drop down option to "show icon and notifications", a little popup appears telling me that the ion will be visible once it is active. The thing is, there's no way for this icon to ever become active."

Right so it's a similar deal. Click Settings and then type in your search string. With 2 interfaces it seems to be getting even harder to find stuff. They need to fix it so I just say into the mike "Cortana.. contrast up 10 percent" and be done with it. :) Well, it's either that or "ahead warp factor 10" I forget which.
