unable to get red x at top right of screen

for some reason, i cant get the cursor to display the red x (close app) when i take the cursor to the top right of the screen. because of this, i am assuming that the app stays open and each subsequent app is opened on top. is there a fix for this?

Presume you are talking about desktop mode.

Run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt.

For info, clicking the red X does not close the program, it just puts it in a suspended state. To fully close the program use Alt + F4
