Thank you everyone for the excellent device. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and get the stream. I'll continue to do research in proper Windows maintenance and security. I'm sure I'll be posting again soon.

    Thank you!

If you want, you can add unchecky, from, it automatically unchecks the boxes of stuff you normally do not want during many freebie download & install EXEs. For example, [some company] used to include goodies such as search.conduit with their free software. Unchecky simply unchecked that box, and the custom/advanced install did not include search.conduit.

    WinVista, Win7, Win8.1, Win10, Mac OS X 10.10, Linux Mint 17.1

I use a MacBook Pro, Linux Mint and 4 versions of Windows on both Desktops and Notebooks/Laptops. Laptops and Notebooks used to be different birds but the terms are used interchangeably. Laptops were much cooler when used on a lap. Netbooks are generally smaller and don't include an Optical drive but USB External types are available. Tablets are a different story, some/probably most are the Android OS, I have one plus a Windows 8.1 Dell Venue 8". A lot of the smart phones use Android. The only real issue I have between Mac and Windows is Mac does do well in providing NTFS support so I use an Ethernet NAS/Network Attached Storage drive and all computers can access it whether Wired or Wi-Fi. Same for an Inkjet and a Laserjet printer.

Questions re: User Accounts Folders
I've been putting off asking this. When people refer to going to folders like C:\users\"yourNameHere"\ for profiles etc, I don't have this luxury. In my User folder, the closest thing to "yourNameHere" (meaning my profile name) is Mcx1-ANT-PC (my computer is called ANT-PC) I installed like...

New User - questions, coments, gripes
My old desktop with XP died several months ago and I've finally replaced it. I think the reason it took me so long was a fear of Windows 8. I have some exposure to Win7 but am essentially jumping from XP to 8. So far it seem to be a matter of learning what has replaced what. Without a start menu...

I have an Acer touch screen Aspire ZS600, Win 8 installed as original OS. How do you print an email? Ordered tickets on line and need to print the bar codes. On XP I right click and select print. Here? How do you move between web sites? How do you save a "favorite" web site and then...

Successful install on old box. Newbie questions!
Hello to all, Begining to find my way around. Had Ubuntu 64 bits and it appears to me that W8 is noticeably faster. My first two questions are 1. Does sfc /scannow as administrator work properly? I did a check and got some corrupted file, when it finished! The X2 Athlon +6000 chip and 4GB of...

MS potential strategy..Have BOTH Win 7 and Win 8 available for PCs?
I'm starting to think that MS may simply keep Win 7 as a long term offering which will supply the more serious and business users, while Win 8 will be available as an optional OS offering for the consumer . I think that may be the best bet for MS.... I think that is the ONLY way they are...
