When you right click a file and go to "send to" you can make it send a shortcut to the desktop. Is there a way so I can send a shortcut to a different folder?

The SendTo context menu is located in C:\Users\YourLogonName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows and can have shortcuts for other locations such as a Folder or a drive added to it. As was explained some years ago when Packard Bell had their proprietary Navigator screen in Win95 [or was it in Win3.x], the Desktop was the office, the HDD/C: was the file/storage cabinet that had the Folders in it and the files were in the Folders. That was rather simplistic but worked. Haven't seen anyone do as you are asking.

Found a solution.

Went to C:\Users\Joe\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo and added shortcuts to the folders I wanted to be able to send shortcuts to.

Next, I just have to hold cntrl+shift and right click the file I want to create a shortcut for. Then go to send to and choose one of the folders I added in above step.

(If you hold just shift, then it will actually copy the file to the new folder, not make a shortcut).

1. You can also type shell:sendto into start/search and hit Enter. That will open the sendto folder where you can place any shortcut of another location (e.g. drag from desktop)

2. No need to hold shift when you want to send a file. It will do it without holding shift.
