Solved Does taking ownership of XP in "8" change the account?

Here's the scenario. I moved a hard drive with XP to a Windows 8 PC and took ownership of it so the customer could access his data without copying it to the Windows 8 hard drive. We're having difficulty finding some of his email though and I want to put the XP drive back in the old computer and boot it to hopefully find the email. The question is will the XP drive still boot and will the original account still be accessible? TIA

It probably will be helpful to know exactly what E-Mail Client was being used on WinXP, some are very difficult in the exporting or copying of messages for use in a different E-Mail Client or on a different computer. An example: I had to move WinXP Outlook Express messages to a Mac OS X iMac with Outlook 2011 the other day and ended up by first Importing them into Outlook 2003 on her computer. Then I had to do the Export [as a backup.pst files] and take the result of that to my Win7 computer with Outlook 2010 and Import. Then I Exported them to a new backup.pst file followed by Importing that into Outlook 2011 on the Mac. The process is made more difficult because of some formatting issues between Outlook Express and the later version/s of Outlook, things don't work directly.

As to the ownership part, I wouldn't take ownership of the whole drive, only those Folders where desired files are located, shouldn't disturb the boot process.
