Solved Automatic File Creation - What Process?

I installed Crashplan and restored my old laptop to my desktop. From there, I moved the files to their respective folders and deleted the desktop file. A few minutes later, the file reappeared on the desktop, but with only a partial set of directories (Desktop:C\Users\UserName\Favorites).

I removed Crashplan and delete the AppData directory for it's configuration. Confirmed that the service is no longer in windows and rebooted. On restart, the file on the directory reappears. I deleted it and a few minutes later it reappears.

How can I find out what process is creating this file?

I found the issue. During the recovery I copied and pasted the files in place. I had noticed on "User\Favorites" the shortcut/properites had been rewritten to the desktop copy somehow. I changed this in the properties and ignored it.

Today I went through the registry and found that all the folders under C:\Users\MyUserName were registered to the copy that had been on the Desktop...not sure how that happens (desktop.ini files?).

Anyhow, I ran a registry cleaner to get rid of what I could then went in and modified the properties in regedit for all the bogus ones from "Desktop\C\Users\Myuser" back to "C:\Users\Myuser". The problem seems to be solved. at this point...no new files created.
