Shut down with fast boot

Not exactly a BSOD so please forgive me if I've posted in the wrong section.

I've noticed that each morning when I switch my computer on, it gets as far as the Windows logo screen and then shuts down. I then switch the computer back on for a second time, and it starts up correctly.

This happens as regular as clockwork every morning.

I googled and on some website it mentioned disabling the fast-startup feature, which sure enough has fixed my problem. It now starts properly on the first attempt each morning.

My problem is that I would prefer not to disable the fast-startup feature if possible. When I first got my computer I didn't have to disable the feature. It's only recently that the problem started to occur.

Is there anything I can do to find out what is causing this problem?

Thanks.

Sadly I don't have a clue how to fix it or how I made it happen. I installed Speed Fan but then later uninstalled it. That's about the only thing I've done lately.

Fast Startup puts the PC into a hybrid sleep mode when you shut it down. My guess is It's likely a sleep or hibernate issue. Your second boot up is from a cold start. Maybe your hiberfile.sys file is being corrupted?

Thanks for replying. Are you (or anyone else here) able to check the information included in my attachment to determine if there is a corrupted hibernation file? And if so, what would be the way forward for fixing this? I'd like to avoid reinstalling windows if possible, but willing to do this as a last resort. Thanks.

If you delete that file Windows will create a new one. If you right click the Start Button, and select Command Prompt Admin. And then run powercfg -h off. You turn hibernation off and automatically delete the hiberfile.sys file. I would then shut down, boot up again and then run powercfg -h on. This will turn it back on and create a new hiberfile.sys file.. You may have to go into your power options in control panel and set a few things the way you want them. after doing this.

Thank you. I tried the above, however when I tried your idea, I then switched the fast startup option back on it went back to starting on the second attempt. Frustrating.

I've never been a big fan of sleep or hibernate myself. I've had issues with it in the past. I have SSD's in my PC's now so I have no need for it. Wish I could be more help but I've never taken the time to diagnose why it didn't work for me. If you Google powercfg you'll get lots of hits on what it does and how to use it. Most of it is over my head.

Thank you for at least trying to help me. I appreciate it a lot. I feel like the answer to what is happening could be lurking within the attached information in my opening post, but I wouldn't have a clue how to analyse it.

some people have tried since win8 came out to fix hibernation issues with there computer ,and most just gave up and set it sleep ,best they could do .the file in your first post is system info ,not much error reporting in it ,if any .I to do not bother with hibernation because of issues with it not coming out of hibernation .
