Solved Cannot boot into UEFI

Hi there,

i cannot seem to enter in the UEFI bios of my PC. I am using a mechanical keyboard and tried with a regular DELL keyboard.
The BIOS screen goes so fast that both the keyboard do not load on time to press DEL or F2.
I don't see the settings to boot to UEFI in Windows 8.1 anymore...

Is there any other way to get in the UEFI BIOS.

Thanks in advance

Regards,
Joao

Do you have an EFI partition listed in disk management? As a test try turning off Windows 8's Fast Startup, http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/6320-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-8-a.html Then shutdown and boot back up while pressing the key required to access your BIOS. Fast Startup puts the PC in a hybrid sleep mode when you shut down instead of a full shut down. A side effect is that it can make it hard to enter your BIOS on boot up.

I have tried the fastboot, did not work because my keyboard is not on when turning on the PC... it only goes on when in windows login screen.

Thanks :)

No EFI partition means Windows was not installed in UEFI mode, which is why the boot to UEFI settings option is missing. Either your PC doesn't have a UEFI BIOS or Windows was installed in Legacy mode.

Oh damn, ok, my mobo is UEFI. Do you recommend reinstalling my Windows 8.1? Is there another wat to change it from legacy to UEFI?

Thanks

Doing a re-install is up to you. As far as I know you'll have to re-install to switch it to UEFI Mode. I'm not sure there is any benefit to doing it? If you haven't installed to many programs now is the time to do it though.
